Applying of Canadian water quality index for evaluation of some water treatment plants in Basrah province

Abstract In this study, ten water treatment plants were evaluated for quality drinking by using the Canadian Council of Ministers Environment Water Quality Index (CCME WQI).The main Jubyla(1), Khor Al Zubair, Al-Shaibah, AlmahkalAljadeed, Hay Al-Hussain, Asmaei, Garma(1), Abass, Madena Riadia, and Mhaijran. These in different places Basrah province supply most needed citizens city. The samples collected treated monthly from January to December 2019. 13 parameters tested, which Turbidity (Turb), Total hardness (TH), pH, dissolved solids (TDS), suspended (TSS), Chloride (Cl-), Magnesium (Mg +2 ), Sodium (Na + Potassium (K Calcium (Ca Alkalinity (Alk.), Sulfate (So 4 ) Electrical Conductivity (EC) all stations. CCME WQI method classified Mhaijran station as poor means is not suitable purposes because several reasons, such discharges pollutants into Shatt Al-Arab River domestic, agricultural drainage, industrial process pollutants. two plants, that are Al-Shaibah good condition dry season. Whereas wet season, was marginal Riadia fair. Abass nearly fair season whereas others ranged condition.
